10 Batman Fates Worse Than Death

1. Becoming The Batman Who Laughs - Dark Multiverse

Yeah the Batman Who Laughs has absolutely been overused since bursting onto the scene in Dark Nights Metal, and yeah, he's also more than a little bit Judge Death-y design wise, but that doesn't stop him from being a great concept for a villain.

Introduced during the aforementioned series from Snyder and Capullo, the Batman Who Laughs hails from a reality hidden within the Dark Multiverse, a plain of existence that naturally bends towards bad outcomes.

After the Joker embarked on one last rampage and got up to literally some of the worst stuff he's ever done (infecting children with Joker toxin and then murdering their parents for one), Batman snapped completely and killed his longtime foe. However, doing this released an extra potent version of the Joker toxin that permanently scarred Bruce's mind and skin, setting him down a path that would turn him into one of the most terrifying cosmic threats in the entire DC multiverse.

On his way to becoming the Batman Who Laughs, Bruce murdered all his sidekicks (bar Damian, who he Jokerised), and enlisted the help of the children Joker had transformed in his final rampage.

The Batman Who Laughs is so far gone that he would never consider this an unfortunate turn of events. However, for the part of Bruce that may have been there deep down, trapped behind that menacing Joker grin, being hurled into the sun by Wonder Woman in Death Metal should have come as a massive release.
