10 Batman Plot-Holes Everyone Just Accepts

7. Alfred Cares About Batman's Mission, But Also Doesn't - New 52 Batman & We Are Robin

Batman Unbreaks Spine
DC Comics

After the events of Batman: Endgame, Bruce Wayne loses all memory of his time as Batman, and lives a quiet life in the city, blissfully unaware of the pain and suffering he's endured in its name.

There is a machine in the Batcave that would be able to restore his memories, but Alfred wants to prevent anyone from taking Bruce to it so that his son may finally know peace and happiness. It's a lovely thought, yet one that neglects to consider the Batman's mission of eradicating crime - Alfred never brings that up though, because he is simply concerned for the well-being of his boy.

Or, that's what Scott Snyder would tell you, anyway. In We Are Robin, a book that ran parallel to the main Batman title during this Bruce Wayne-less time, Alfred supports the Robin gang in an effort to continue the mission, completely contradicting the main book's characterization.
