One of the most interesting elements of Grant Morrison's Batman run is that he considers all of the character's stories to be a part of his history; but, if that's the case, then that includes the numerous times Batman killed people in his Golden Age tales.
It's something that puts the Batman of Morrison's run in a whole other light, as it effectively declares things like him hanging an escaped mental patient from the bat-plane as things that he actually did. Which is problematic for obvious reason.
On top of the murder, the Bat frequently used a firearm during these early adventures, another key tenet that is completely undermined by including that everything from that era in canon.
