4. Jackie Estacado (Top Cow Productions)
Definitely one of the most out-there ideas for a comic book character in a long time, Jackie Estacado is the main character of Top Cow Productions' The Darkness comics. He's a mafioso who comes to inherit an ancient demon known only as The Darkness.
The Darkness - true to its name - has nothing but contempt for humanity, and nothing but the worst planned to do with Jackie. But that would require control of his body and his soul, the latter of which Jackie is a lot more stubborn about giving up.
The great thing about Jackie is that he isn't some saint given the power of a demon, like with the various incarnations of Ghost Rider. Jackie is a mafia enforcer, with all the shades of moral grey that entails. He kills, has killed in the past, and given his profession, it stands to reason most of them didn't have it coming. But however bad Jackie may or may not be, The Darkness is worse, and manages to find - and cross - whatever moral lines Jackie has left. Making him much more sympathetic as a result.
And, of course, being a highly trained mafia enforcer with the powers of one of Hell's most powerful demons at his beck and call, Jackie is one badass dude.
