10 Best Comic Book Universes
4. Valiant Universe
Back in 1991, Jim Shooter started working as the Editor-in-Chief of Valiant Comics, and with his input, the brand grew to become an amazing universe. The Valiant Universe initially grew from a group of Golden Age Gold Key Comics, including Magnus the Robot Fighter, Dr. Solar: Man of the Atom, Turok: Son of Stone, and several more.
Over time, new characters and creations were added to Valiant's line of books, and within a few years, the Valiant Universe had grown to include stories told in the distant past, present, and far future. Unfortunately, an acquisition of Valiant Comics by Acclaim Entertainment in 1994 put a stop to everything Valiant-related.
All the books were canceled, retooled, and relaunched under the new brand of Acclaim Comics. It wasn't long before the business crumpled and Valiant appeared to die out by 1996.
Fortunately, comic book fans love a comeback, and that's exactly what happened in 2012 when the Valiant Universe was rebooted once more as Valiant Entertainment. The new comics were more like the original books (before the dark times... before Acclaim), and the Valiant Universe was reborn. Many consider each era of traditional and digital publishing as separate multiverses within the Valiant Universe, which means there are a total of six within the broader Valiant Multiverse.
