10 Best Comic Book Villains (That Had No Powers)

3. The Red Skull

The Riddler
Marvel Comics

When a young bellhop meets Adolf Hitler, it doesn't take long for him to take Johann Schmidt as a protege. The pure evil that runs through Schmidt's veins makes him the perfect candidate to head up the Third Reich's terrorist and espionage squads, and from here Captain America's greatest enemy is born, the Red Skull.

The leader of H.Y.D.R.A survives the Second World War, only to eventually die of old age. But not even death can stop him as he is revived by Arnim Zola and, bar a few more lapses into the great beyond, he continues his quest to be the ultimate bastard for many years to come.

The Red Skull is, undoubtedly, one of the nastier pieces of work on this list. Whereas others use their criminal genius for personal and financial gain, all Johann Schmidt cares about is furthering his own fascist ideology.

Even when he turns his back on Nazism, as he feels it labels him as somewhat of a relic, and embraces the 'American Dream', underneath it all lays the unalienable truth that he is fuelled by evil, and evil alone.
