6. Pleasant Dreams #1
A man is experiencing a series of disturbing dreams while he sleeps, they are haunting and otherworldly. However, it become even more frightening when they begin to slowly bleed into his waking life.
Dreams are hard to do in comics. While the only limitation to the visual side of comics is the artist's imagination and skill, there can be an overworked feel with the art trying hard to be dreamlike. That is really where this comic shines. Nicolas Micciola uses a minimalist art style to allow the clean lines, deeper colors and an overall basic aesthetics to easily marry the real world and our main character's dreams. Micciola allows for the art to take high priority over writer but not in a negative, more in a sense to not let words break the connection between the emotions of the piece and the reader.
Pleasant Dreams is a brilliant example that just because a book doesn't have overdeveloped or realistic art doesn't mean it can't be on the same level as other art-driven books.
