10 Best Comic First Issues This Week (Dec 26, 2018)
4. HellCar Comix #1
HellCar Comix is another one of the so-indie-it-hurts comics that you can just tell is put together with love for the craft. As an anthology for several creators to be able to throw their hats into the ring, stories range from a half-page stick figure Cute Girl comic strip to a fun short-but-sweet comic poking fun at the extreme nature of some comics starring cute little animals like Fufu and Bunky.
There's an oddity when a book uses the Comix moniker since comix as a term is a descriptor for underground comics. The reason this is just an interesting thing is that books like HellCar Comix coming from the upstart studio Alternating Crimes and being a Comixology Submit title is as underground as you can get in the industry currently. However, it doesn't go the darker, and gratuitous route that many comix during the golden age of the underground comic market did. There's no sex in the book, and there's no brains exploding everywhere but it keeps the spirit and near-absurdity of the comix of yesterday.
The art is varied but unique and fits in every style the crack team of writers go with for a fantastic read. If that's not an incentive then it's only 89p (or $1).
