10 Best Hand To Hand Fights In Comics
1. Superman Vs. Doomsday
Doomsday was a Kryptonian creature genetically designed to be the ultimate killing machine. His scientist creators killed him over and over again, resurrecting him each time with the immunity to what killed him before. The beast evolved beyond his creator’s control and, of course, killed them all.
Escaping Krypton, the monster went on a multiple-planet rampage, encountering Darkseid, the Khunds, the Green Lanterns, and the Guardians of the Universe, before the beast landed on the planet Calaton where he was killed by the composite being Radiant.
Doomsday's corpse was wrapped, chained, and shot into space, and it landed on Earth and embedded deep in the ground. The creature awoke and began rampaging its way through the country, destroying police and military personnel easily. The Justice League didn’t fare any better, as it tore through their ranks with shocking ease, and Booster Gold inadvertently named the creature Doomsday. In Superman #75, Superman arrived and began to fight the beast, quickly realizing that they were equally powerful.
Genetically drawn to hate all things Kryptonian, Doomsday brutally fought the Man of Steel, who for perhaps the first time in his career was hitting back with his full strength. The pair traded blow after savage blow as the battle raged through Metropolis, destroying multiple buildings. Nearly at his end, Clark puts all his final energy into a final blow that kills the monster before he himself succumbed to his many injuries and died.
