Also by the Snyder/Capullo team, Death of the Family is one of the more conceptual Joker stories. He straps his rotting sliced-off face to his head, which is a lifestyle, and takes down the Robins, Nightwing, and Batgirl to ensure that Batman will be his and his alone forever. At the climax Joker trips off a cliff, as he does. Batman grabs his hand, pulls him up, and whispers that he knows Jokers real name and history, that hes just a normal man. Deeply insulted, Joker zaps Batman with a joy-buzzer and lets go. His face flutters off and reveals the grinning tissue beneath as he plummets into the abyss. All he wanted was an eternal frenemy, and he just couldnt take the rejection. No one could survive that fall. Could this be the end? (Nah.)
