Spider-Man didn't really need a new goblin-themed villain in his life, but he got one in 2008. That's when Marc Guggenheim and Salvadore Larroca wrote the first adventures of Menace, a grey-skinned addition to the goblin family.

Menace is one of the more imposing new villains that Spidey has had to face in recent years, with the new goblin almost beating the hero to death at one point. Menace - really Lily Hollister - also played a key role in Norman Osborn's attempt to take over Manhattan as the Goblin King.

Hollister, through an extremely convoluted story line, has currently become a new supervillain, the Queen Cat. But the odds are good that she'll return to her Menace role soon enough.

Best Moment:

At the end of the Election Day storyline in the Amazing Spider-Man, Menace nearly beats Spidey to death. Spider-Man is only saved when Harry Osborne, as the Green Goblin, shows up with a serum that turns Menace back into Lilly Hollister.
