10 Best Marvel And DC Supervillains Who've Debuted Since 2000

6. The Auctioneer

Marvel Zombies Captain America
DC Comics

The best villains have truly outlandish plans. The Auctioneer qualifies.

First introduced as a Superman foe in Action Comics #841 in 2006, the Auctioneer is a gigantic alien who loves to collect artifacts and auction them off to interested buyers. In his first appearance, the Auctioneer nabs such famous buildings as the Eiffel Tower and the Golden Gate Bridge.

This doesn't sit well with Superman, of course. But the Auctioneer actually enjoys Superman's interference: He decides that Superman will be his greatest auction item of all.

Of course, the Auctioneer's plan to auction Superman to the highest bidder fails, as Superman, with the help of Skyrocket, Aquaman, Nightwing and others, manages to escape. Still, the Auctioneer in his rather limited number of appearances counts as a legitimate threat to both the planet and its powerful blue protector.

Best Moment:

What can be better than capturing Superman and trying to auction him off? How about capturing several other superheroes at the same time? Of course, Superman and his friends foil the Auctioneer's plot, but still, it's a pretty big move for this giant-sized supervillain.
