10 Best Rogues Galleries In The DC Universe

Superman is one of the greatest superheroes in history and obviously one of the most notable. A case can be made that the Man of Steel’s villains helped to make his comics a must-read, as comic book Superman is pretty awesome compared to how the films portray him.

The Superman Rogues Gallery has many notable villains but one of his most enduring is also his very first, General Zod. A fellow Kryptonian, his powers nearly matched that of Superman's, and is beaten out in terms of sheer icon status by only one other figure.

That figure is Lex Luthor. He has managed to defeat Superman or put him down for a while - more times than any other villain in Superman’s Rogues Gallery. Brainiac has also taken Superman down a lot, often due to his massive intelligence.

But that's not all. Superman has a long list of other great villains like Metallo, Bizarro, Toyman, Eradicator Superman, Manchester Black, Mongul, Parasite, and Cyborg Superman. One of the best, though, is Mr. Mxyztplk, a cross-dimensional imp who exists simply to annoy Superman.

However, his biggest test was Doomsday who, in the Death of Superman comic, actually killed the Man of Steel. At the time, no one knew this could even happen, which makes Doomsday THE essential Superman villain.
