10 Best Short Marvel Comic Series Of 2021

8. Sinister War

Black Knight: Curse Of The Ebony Blade
Marvel Comics

Poor Peter Parker can never catch a break, can he? Sinister War was undeniably insane and one of Peter's most dangerous battles to date. Caught between multiple gangs of villains who want him dead, Peter must fight to survive and the odds aren't in his favour. It's basically Spider-Man: The Hunger Games.

It feels very long and complicated for a short series but it involves The Sinister Six, The Savage Six (an animal-themed group) and twists and turns, secret identities and the demon Mephisto, himself.

There's a lot going on here - not just multiple gangs of villains battling it out to murder Peter. The biggest bad of them all, is Kindred who has implanted his parasitic centipedes in the villains brains as a means of controlling them all. He reminds them that the centipedes will get hungry and eat their brains, but whoever kills Spider-Man can serve as his lieutenant in Hell.

The stakes are high for everyone and it becomes one of the worst nights of Peter's life as he tries to fight and escape those who relentlessly pursue him.

Sinister War is one of those series that is so far out of the box and feels weird but is also great fun. It's great to see the story delve into some particularly dark territory and fully embrace it.
