7. Arcade
Arcade is a perennially underrated villain in Marvel’s canon, a twisted killer who usually takes on the X-Men but has come up across many heroes in his time.
His theatrical aesthetic and manic ways often see him compared unfavourably to DC’s Joker, which seems to have kept him pigeon holed into minor appearances.
When he gets a chance to shine though, he really takes it.
Arcade uses his engineering skills, intelligence and interest in magic (the non super powers, rabbit from a hat kind) to create Murderworlds: sinister amusement park style deathtraps which heroes must escape from or be brutally slaughtered. Arcane likes to employ luck and chance in his games too, so initially heroes would escape with their lives.
However, in the Avenger Arena storyline, that all changed. Arcade captured 16 different super powered teens and pitted them against each other in a battle royale style deathmatch for survival as his Murderworld placed them in peril.
Mettle, Red Raven Kid Briton, Juston Seyfert, Apex and Nara are all killed by Arcade’s Murderworld in this storyline, highlighting just how deadly he can be.
