10 Best Supervillains Who Only Appear Once

9. Replicus - Thor #141 (1967)

Codpiece Doom Patrol #70 (1993)
Marvel Comics

An alien scientist named Chuda built an automaton called Replicus to perform a crime spree in a city on Earth. If the bionic minion proved himself worthy, Chuda intended to forge an unstoppable army of robots and use them to overthrow the world's governments. After Thor saw Replicus on the news attacking a city, the God of Thunder tracked down the nefarious android.

However, the mighty Asgardian soon learned that Replicus was able to match his power. Withstanding Thor's most devastating blows and avoiding the strike of Mjolnir with ease, Replicus dominated the battle. Using retractable cables built into his fingers, Replicus immobilised Thor, preventing him from hurling his enchanted hammer. Thor found his opponent so resourceful, he was genuinely unsure if he could defeat him.

And guess what? He didn't! While the two were brawling, Chuda was knocked into Replicus' power battery by a disgruntled flunky. Not only did this kill the two men, it deactivated the menacing mechanoid's power pack, rendering him inert.

Although Thor faced a similar robot a couple of years later, the original Replicus never showed up again.
