5. The One Tried to Shoot The Cat
It's not all animal cruelty though - Frank Millers 'Year One' pits a neophyte Batman against an entire SWAT team, with good cop Jim Gordon eager to catch the vigilante, unsure of his true intentions. You may remember a version of the scene from Batman Begins, although Nolan's loose adaptation does dispense with what might be the comic's greatest scene.
Although Batman manages to defuse the situation without hurting the SWAT guys too much (a few rabies injections aside) he stops to take out his frustrations upon one particularly aggressive chump after he opens fire upon an innocent cat. Always a defender of the innocent and staunch anti-gun tub-thumper, a riled Batman retaliates on the cat's behalf by punching the man clean through a solid brick wall. It's little wonder Catwoman has a soft spot for the guy.
