Speaking of Miles...

During the Spider-Men #1 crossover in 2012, Peter Parker of the Earth 616 mainstream universe was teleported by Mysterio over to a the Earth 1610 Ultimates universe where he had died and Miles was New York's crime fighter. After Peter unmasked and convinced Miles that he wasn't a clone of their dead Peter, the pair headed off to find Mysterio and return Peter to his earth.

Along the way, they stopped by Queens to see Aunt May and Gwen, and although being initially shocked, Miles calmed them down and got them to listen. They shared stories with each other and thanks to Miles, May and Gwen found a sense of closure after talking to Peter one last time.

It's clear to see that Into the Spider-verse drew many concepts off this comic and it's easy to understand why. It's an engaging trip through different dimensions, filled with heartfelt moments and that compelling relationship between Peter and Miles.

In the end, they fight a bunch of bad guys, battle with Mysterio through different dimensions and eventually open a portal for Pete to go back home, but not before he imparts some wisdom upon the young Spider-Man. "Wash your costume, like, daily."
