10 Best Vampires In Comics

4. Skinner Sweet - American Vampire

Blade Vampires
Vertigo Comics

Writer Scott Snyder is perhaps best known for his run on Batman, introducing the Court of Owls and horrifically reacquainting the Joker with his lopped off face. However, his best work to date is Vertigo's American Vampire. This book is responsible for bringing the world Skinner Sweet - a vampire threat for the ages. The book has good horror pedigree too - featuring a story from guest writer Stephen King, the master of horror himself.

We first meet Sweet in 1920s Hollywood, as he saves the life of aspiring actress Pearl Jones by turning her into his progeny. The story jumps back and forth through the centuries; a complete history of its charismatic, horrifying antihero.

A notorious wild west outlaw with a love of candy and sadism (hence the name), Sweet is a terrifying presence and one of the greatest vampires ever created. Pimp? Outlaw? Soldier? You name it, Skinner Sweet has done it all, taking advantage of the monster's immortality and the limitless opportunities offered therein.
