Vampires versus Pirates!

Rick Reminder and Keiron Dwyer's tale of bloodsuckers on the high seas follows 16th Century swashbuckler Marco Esperanza - turned into a vampire and left for dead aboard a sinking ship. 500 years later, Esperanza seeks revenge - but first, he must escape from the, uh, film set of director Joel Cameron, who would use and abuse the vampire for his own purposes.

Published by Image Comics between 2005 and 2006, Sea of Red is a wild, unpredictable ride through the centuries, with a great antihero in Esperanza. It's hard not to root for the poor guy, having spent the best part of 500 years under the ocean... then caught up in the machinations of modern (circa 2005) life.

Part Tales of the Black Freighter, part gory Tarantino-esque revenge story, this is one of the most exciting and unpredictable vampire books you'll ever read. Shiver me timbers indeed.
