10 Best Variant Comic Book Covers You’ve Never Seen

5. Amazing Spider-Man #678

Harley Quinn Dell'Otto
Marvel Comics

When Mary Jane first showed up for her blind date with Peter Parker, "Face it, Tiger. You just hit the jackpot!" became etched in Spider-Lore. If, on the other hand, she had shown up with the Venom symbiote attached to her, as she does in this variant by Joe Quinones, then things could've gone a lot differently.

Quinones has been responsible for some of the best covers going, as well as some of the greatest inner art, such as making Howard the Duck respectable again, as well as what may be one of the stand-out comics of 2019, the forthcoming Dial H for Hero.

Amazing Spider Man Variant
Marvel Comics

This take on the classic first meeting between Peter and MJ is as funny as it is terrifying. Venomised to the max, she stands in the doorway, having ripped the damn thing nearly off its hinges, flashing a very unnerving smile, and proclaiming that Spidey's just "lost the jackpot" this time around.

Whether or not they throw down or the Web-Head takes her out for a romantic dinner is one of those questions that will never be answered, but the cover was impressive all the same.
