3. Colossus And Kitty Pryde's Wedding - But Really Gambit And Rogue Marry

After years of build up, X-Men Gold finally saw Kitty Pryde and Colossus get engaged. The two had an on and off again relationship since the character of Kitty was introduced back in the eighties.

Marvel had been marketing the upcoming wedding since the year before, and with the announcement of a story arc called 'Til Death Do Us Part, fans were excited to see the two finally tie the knot.

When issue #30 finally dropped, it did appear that Kitty and Colossus really would make it official. After the rehearsal dinner, Kitty has a heart-to-heart with her soon to be sister-in-law, who told Kitty, "I just think if you two were meant to be together... it would have happened already."

This gives Kitty cold feet, and despite the fact that Kitty was the one who proposed to Colossus, she breaks things off. Of course, she waits until the most awkward moment possible: halfway through the wedding while they're in front of all their friends, right when Colossus is literally trying to slide her ring onto her finger.

Once the two newly-not-weds bow out, Rogue and Gambit use the wedding as their own personal shindig. On a romantic whim, Gambit drops to one knee and the two decide to walk down the aisle. Kitty and Colossus are totally fine with this, but many fans were not.
