5. Ego

Exitar the Executioner
Marvel Comics

Approximate Size - 4,165 Miles Wide.

Millions of years ago, the universe's greatest scientist, The Stranger, forced a sun to go supernova so he could absorb the energy of the planets orbiting it. A physicist on one of these planets, Egros, learned of The Stranger's plans and prepped a bunker to save his people.

While everyone was secured in the bunker, Egros prepared the final touches to ensure his planet would survive. Before he had a chance to guarantee his world's safety, The Stranger obliterated the star, destroying Egros' planet. Because Egros was out in the open when this cataclysm occurred, he was exposed to the raw energy of his world. This allowed his consciousness to fuse with his world, transmogrifying him into Ego the Living Planet.

In this form, Ego is 4,165 miles in diameter, making him slightly smaller than Mars. As big as that sounds, Ego has gotten dramatically bigger in recent comics.

Although Galactus and Ego had been bitter enemies for aeons, they made peace when the Devourer of Worlds used his cosmic energy to amplify Ego's powers, allowing him to sprout an entire body. This incarnation is about eight times larger, making him four times wider than Earth.
