5. New Flash Movie Upsets New Flash TV Show

Struggling to play catch-up with Marvel's well-established (and cash-rich) Cinematic Universe, this year saw DC accidentally kinda sorta announcing their entire slate of superhero films up through 2020 during an investor meeting, the info of which inevitably leaked and lead to a fairly low-key official confirmation not long after. Amongst that schedule of forthcoming blockbusters include some characters who are already gracing our screens. Besides the already known (or else assumed) new Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and Justice League films there were the surprise solo outings for Aquaman, Cyborg, Suicide Squad and The Flash. The latter of which was a particular shock because DC had just launched a new scarlet speedster on the small screen not a week beforehand, with Grant Gustin slipping into the role for the CW TV show that's actually super good. The Flash television series has had some of the highest ratings in its channels history, but that news seems to have been somewhat overshadowed by not only the existence of a movie, but one in which the character will be played by feted young actor Ezra Miller. Stephen Amell, star of other DC TV series Arrow, has spoken out by essentially saying that was a d*ck move on Warner Bros part.
