10 Biggest Comic Book Twists You Never Saw Coming
4. Jason Todd Lives
It’s not that rare for characters to return from the dead in comics these days. It is rare that such a hated character returns to become someone that is beloved by many fans. Jason Todd, the second Robin, was an obnoxious punk. He was reckless, didn’t follow Batman’s orders, and was a brutal fighter who went too far. Still, his death at the hands of the Joker devastated Bruce and drove him into his own bout of brutal retribution on the criminal world.
Jason was resurrected six months after his death by Talia al Ghul using a Lazarus Pit. Talia took Jason to the All Caste to be trained in letting go of his anger, but in true Todd fashion, he believed that he knew best and rejected this tenant of their teachings. He later joined the League of Assassins where he trained with both the Bronze Tiger and Lady Shiva, but he left the group when he realized that they only cared for profit and not justice.
Traveling to Gotham, Jason took up the mantle of the Red Hood, a former alias of the man who became the Joker. He tried to take revenge on both Batman and the Joker but all those plans failed. He soon left and began to fight for justice on an international scale before rejoining the larger Bat-Family.
