10 Most Bizarre Things In Buffy The Vampire Slayer Season 8 & 9

2. Connor Is God

In one dimension, at least. Over in Season 9's Angel & Faith, Willow pops up on her quest to bring back magic and convinces the pair to travel with her to Quor'toth, the hell dimension that Angel's antichrist child (long story) Connor was raised in and that brings out the worst qualities of whoever travels there. Anyway, Connor acts as their guide in the realm and, after being almost killed a few dozen times by the local residents, shortly comes to learn that he's viewed as a god by a tribe of half-man, half-dog people who are enslaved for practicing their beliefs of pacifism and compassion as preached by their leader. It turns out that Connor left quite an impression during his time in Quor'toth, and since time travels faster in that dimension, he's been gone a couple of hundred years which has only allowed his legend to grow. Connor feels understandably uncomfortable with his newfound status as Messiah, and tells the tribesmen to forge their own path shortly before freeing the rest of their kind from bondage and leading them to salvation on Earth, likely only adding more fuel to the fire of his holy image.
