10 Characters Marvel And DC Don't Know What To Do With

6. Donna Troy

Spider-Woman New Outfit
DC Comics

Wonder Woman #23 was the first comic to show Diana as a child, where she went by the name, Wonder Girl. These stories proved so popular, Wonder Girl was inserted into the team, The Teen Titans. However, the writer was oblivious that Wonder Girl was a teenage Wonder Woman and assumed she was the Amazonian's sidekick.

This situation was made more confusing when Wonder Girl teamed up with Wonder Woman. This means Wonder Woman teamed up… with herself. Wonder Girl was eventually rewritten as Diana’s "magical clone", Donna Troy.

Sadly, the confusion didn't stop. According to Troy's backstory, she is cursed to live multiple lives. As a result, she goes by many names over many timelines, each with a different appearance and power, making it a nightmare for readers to follow her stories. In her most recent revised origin, a sorcerer created Troy to replace Wonder Woman.

On DC's website, they open up the character's biography with this - "Donna Troy alias Wonder Girl and later Troia and Wonder Woman". That's the first sentence and I'm already confused! She's one of the few DC characters that writers didn't know what to do with from the get-go and still struggle with to this day.
