3. Doomsday
One of the things that makes Darkseid appear so powerful is that he is one of the few faces in the DC Universe who is capable of besting a superhuman like Superman in physical combat. Perhaps the only other being to test Superman even further to his limit was Doomsday.
As readers may recall, Doomsday was the one who paved an early grave for the Man of Steel in The Death of Superman storyline from the early nineties. Years later, a sequel was created called Rematch: Hunter/Prey.
In the sequel, Doomsday was resurrected and his asteroid sent him on a collision into Darkseid's home planet of Apokolips. This led to a face to face confrontation between the Lord of Apokolips and his planet's invader.
Believe it or not, Doomsday demolished Darkseid with ease. It took Darkseid's servant, Desaad, to essentially send a distress signal to Superman on earth via a Mother Box to ask for backup.
