7. Fantastic Four
The rivalry between Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, The Thing, and the Human Torch with Galactus goes all the way back to the swinging sixties, when the World Eater made his first attempt to eat Earth.
In this story, the Silver Surfer goes meal scouting for The Devourer of Worlds as his Herald. He tracks down the delicious blue planet, drops a pin for Galactus, but then has a change of Heart. In order to prevent this disastrous snack attack from going down, the Surfer enlists the help of the Fantastic Four.
This plan of attack had a lot of moving parts. Silver Surfer distracts the massive evil cosmic being by fighting him in a perilous one-on-one battle. During this uneven matchup, Johnny Storm steals the Ultimate Nullifier and gives it to Reed Richards. Then using his superior intelligence and the only weapon Galactus fears, he persuades the evildoer to spare Earth.
While they did not beat him down with fists and photon blasts, they outsmarted one of the oldest beings in the Universe. That is a beat down that leaves a lasting impression.
