10 Characters Who Proved Captain America WRONG

One of the more recent examples from the comics comes from the story, "Time Runs Out," which involved universe-ending chaos, a bunch of betrayals, and an epic fight between Tony Stark and Captain America. "Time Runs Out" was the precursor story for Secret Wars, and involved the Final Incursion between Earth-616 and Earth-1610, the Ultimate Universe.

Ultimately, Secret Wars saw the merging of numerous alternate realities into Battleworld, but that wouldn't occur until the end of Time Runs Out. In the story, the Avengers have declared Iron Man and the rest of the Illuminati its enemies, pushing them into hiding while the Multiverse was decaying.

Captain America took the Mighty Avengers to fight against the Illuminati. Eventually, after confronting them about their perceived inaction in looking for a solution in the impending crisis, they revealed what had been going on for eight months. Reed Richards informed them of their plan to create a new planet intended for Earth's inhabitants, and oh, by the way, they had erased Cap's memory of the Incursion Event, though they had been restored in the "Original Sin" storyline.

Cap wasn't happy about this, and he let Tony know by beating the crap out of him. The thing Cap didn't seem to realize or accept was the fact that Tony and the Illuminati were right to do what they did. Had they kept Cap in the loop, they wouldn't have been able to keep Earth from being destroyed up to that point. Cap didn't want to hear all that, which is why he spoke with his fists.
