There are a lot of stories regarding Two-Face and his exclusion from the TV show. One legend is that he was to be played by none other than Clint Eastwood, and his district attorney role would have changed to that of a TV news reporter. However, another star would eventually become the basis for the '66 version of the coin-flipping crook.

1966 was truly a golden year for television. With hit shows such as Batman, The Addams Family, Mission: Impossible and Star Trek all filming within a short distance from one another, it became customary for each series' stars to make special guest appearances on each other's programs.

Batman's Riddler Frank Gorshin and Catwoman Julie Newmar both guest-starred on Star Trek episodes, and this gave speculation to another casting rumor that William Shatner was slated at one point to play Two-Face.

For whatever reason, the character being too scary, the makeup being too expensive, or Shatner simply not wanting to do it, it never happened. Not until 2017, that is, when rumor became a reality, and Captain Kirk finally voiced Harvey Dent in 2017's Batman Vs. Two-Face.

In 2014 The basic outline of the lost Two-Face episode, penned by legendary television writer Harlan Ellison, was used as inspiration for a comic book adaptation called "The Two-Way Crimes Of Two Face." However, in this issue, Two-Face's origins are a lot closer to the comic book district attorney than the potential news journalist angle.
