9. More Spider-Verse Tie-Ins Coming

Welp, looks like we're gonna have to send in the clones after all. Apologies, Spidey fans. Writer Dan Slott has taken Peter Parker on quite the ride over the past couple of years, messing with the status quo by having our friendly neighbourhood wall crawler swapping minds with Doctor Octopus for a little while (it was pretty cool) whilst reintroducing old characters and plotlines that only the biggest fans were aware of, including an appearance from the futuristic Spider-Man 2099. This year he's going to go all out with the craziness and the continuity with the Spider-Verse event that sees our regular Peter Parker teaming up with his various opposite numbers from across myriad alternate realities, timelines and media - fingers crossed for the Japanese emissary from hell - in order to defeat a villain who wants to wipe the webhead out not just from the main Marvel Comics reality, but from all realities. Eek. We already knew that there was going to be a main Spider-Verse title, the Edge Of Spider-Verse series of one shots were different creators focus on some of those alternate reality Spideys, and from SDCC we received news of two new tie-ins. Scarlet Spiders will see failed Peter Parker clone Kaine team up with the deceased Ben Reilly and Jessica Drew, the Ultimate Universe's Spider-Woman, on a "suicide mission" to fight some bad guys. That book will be handled by writer Mike Costa and artist Paco Diaz, while Spider-Verse Team-Up is a three issue series by Superior co-writer Christos Gage presiding over classic Spider-Man writers and artists pairing up these alternate Spideys to go on adventures A+X style. They both sound like crazy good fun, and start in November.
