One easy way to clarify why Lockheed needs to be in a movie is that he's a dragon, and everybody loves dragons, right? Alright, so he's actually more alien from another world than potential King George enemy, but still, dragons are more popular than ever these days thanks to video games like Skyrim. Visually, he's one of the coolest looking characters in all of Marvel Comics, making him an obvious choice to throw into a future X-Men movie. And since you already have the delightful Ellen Page in the role of Kitty Pryde, there's room for a relationship to grow between the two of them in the X-films. Imagine casting someone like Simon Pegg in the role of Lockheed and seeing the two of them have witty banter together, all while a huge final battle is raging behind them. While Fox may not want to go down the route of alien dragon who has a cockney accent, it's certainly an exciting fantasy scenario for fans to dream about.
