10 Comic Book Characters Everyone Hates (And Why They're Wrong)
5. Aquaman
Arthur Curry is yet another that has been unfairly tarnished with the boring label. The argument seems to be that outside of his natural element he's nothing more than a glorified dolphin whisperer and his recurring role within the Justice League has certain sections of the DC fandom frothing at the mouth whenever he appears on the page.
Although his earlier incarnations may have been a little too vanilla for some people's tastes, the Aquaman of today is immensely different to the one of old - just consult the film's box-office receipts if you're in doubt.
Obviously being King of Atlantis has its own dangers, as there will always be pretenders to the throne, meaning fighting for survival is a daily deal, but it also has its perks. He can control any aquatic creature, from the tiniest goldfish to the biggest Kraken, whenever he needs help.
One of the best examples of this came during the New 52, when Earth was being invaded. With Darkseid and his army attacking the planet, Aquaman shows up and unleashes a group of giant sharks into the air, tearing the Parademon invaders to pieces. This jaw-dropping moment is just one of many that Arthur has performed over the years, and should see him receive far more love than he currently does.
