In life, the woman known only as Moonbeam was an aspiring actress. When she was killed by her co-star while staying with him at a hotel, her mutant powers emerged and she was able to avenge her death. She joined X-Force in issue #125 and the team morphed into the media-obsessed reality show team named X-Statix. Dead Girl was one of only two members of the team to “survive” their final mission, but she did begin to fall apart due to a necrotic disease.

When the villainous Pitiful One planned to use dead heroes and villains from Hell in his current plot, Doctor Strange enlisted the aid of Dead Girl to bring back people from Heaven to battle for their side. The Pitiful One enlisted Miss America, Kraven, Mysterio, The Ancient One, and The Anarchist while Moonbeam brought forth Scott Lang’s Ant-Man, The Phantom Rider, Mr. Sensitive, and U-Go Girl. The Heavenly side emerged victorious and all were returned to their respective afterlives.

U-Go-Girl’s daughter Kate Sawyer was kidnapped by Zeitgeist because he wanted her powers as a teleporter for his team, the X-Cellent. However, Doop, Dead Girl, and a new X-Statix came to her rescue and she teleported everyone out to the graveyard where her mother is buried. Moonbeam resurrected Edith, and mother and daughter have a brief chat before Gone Girl joined the team.
