10 Comic Book Characters Who Are Just TOO POWERFUL!
3. Thanos (With Infinity Gauntlet)
In the '70s, the Mad God Thanos was a minor threat, one who was one time taken out of his, ahem, Thanos-copter by Spider-Man and a young boy.
Then the 1990s rolled around, Thanos killed several galactic deities for the gemstones they held and forged the Infinity Gauntlet, with the goal of killing half the universe to please his paramour Lady Death.
Comics rocked in the '90s.
As a Titan, Thanos already had superhuman strength, durability, and intellect, was a skilled fighter, and could draw on enormous amounts of cosmic energy. Once he acquired the Gauntlet, it essentially made Thanos into the most potent force in the Marvel universe.
The Infinity Gems let him control aspects of Mind, Power, Reality, Soul, Space, and Time, making him virtually omnipotent and omniscient. He could do literally anything.
With the Gauntlet, Thanos took on a collection of Marvel's mightiest heroes, handily beating them, before moving on to Marvel's oldest and most powerful celestial beings, and defeating them as well. It was only through the combination of a resurrected Adam Warlock and Thanos' own self-doubt about his godhood that he was defeated.
Or, in the MCU, Thor going for the head the second time around.
