10 Comic Book Characters Who REPLACED Heroes (And Failed)

7. Robin Replaced By Stephanie Brown

US Agent
DC Comics

The third of Batman's Robin, Tim Drake, is not an orphan. When Tim's very much alive father finds out his still-a-minor child has been running around fighting crime with a strange man he puts an end to that. Time for a new Robin.

Stephanie Brown isn't new to crime fighting, originally she was The Spolier. This is how she met Tim Drake and the two soon started dating. It's also not her first time working with Batman. Batman used to train her, but later decided that she wasn't a good fit for crime fighting and kicked her out of the bat-family. Talk about complicated relationships.

Her reason for taking up the Robin mantle in War Games are already are at odds with the legacy of being Batman's sidekick. In short, she wants to get back at Tim Drake because she thinks he's cheating on her (he isn't). Batman's reasons are just as selfish. At least according to Alfred, Batman seems to be using her as a way to lure Tim back into the superhero life.

Batman does train his new Robin and take her out crime fighting, but unsurprisingly his goodwill is short-lived. Several months later he fires her for disobeying a direct order in the field. Batman gets his third Robin back and Stephanie tragically gets tortured and shot trying to redeem herself.

West loves pop culture, movies, comics and TV-shows just as much as you do. Probably. Since you're reading this. Also, she has a cat. He's pretty awesome.
