10 Comic Book Characters Whose Powers Are Actually Pretty Disgusting
5. Zombie (Marvel)
Everyone knows what kind of features zombies have - rotting bodies, a taste for human flesh and very little in terms of intelligence. It's fairly obvious to include "zombies" as a general concept in this list, but did you know there's actually a superhero zombie in Marvel comics? Simon William Garth was a work-obsessed executive of Garth Manor coffee, based in New Orleans, Louisiana, in the United States. After being ambushed and kidnapped by his former gardener, whom he had fired, Garth became a voodoo cult's human sacrifice. However, the cult's priestess, Layla, recognises Garth as her employer, with whom she is in love. She unsuccessfully attempts to let him escape and she is forced to mystically transform his corpse into a zombie with a clouded mind whom holders of a certain matching amulet could control. While Layla and her associates try to help him finally rest, Garth uses his powers - which also happen to include a mystical regenerative healing power and superhuman strength - to do good. However, given that he's nothing more than a rotting corpse, it proves somewhat difficult.
