10 Comic Book Covers That Totally Lied To You

When Frank Miller and Klaus Johnson worked together on their legendary Daredevil run, the duo produced some of the character's best stories. They also introduced the world to Elektra, and many of the covers from those books stand as the hero's greatest.

That's not surprising, given the stark imagery it depicts. Elektra is seen holding a sai, and on the end of it sits Daredevil's mask. It's torn and tattered with the caption, "...Somebody had to win!" That's pretty telling, and readers who grabbed this book probably thought Elektra was going to beat Daredevil.

While the two did fight in the book, it didn't play out the way the cover suggested. Daredevil went up against Elektra to try and talk her out of carrying out a hit on Ben Urich, and their fight was pretty intense.

That said, it didn't end with Daredevil's costume being torn in any way, nor did his mask find its way onto the top of Elektra's sai. The cover is pretty misleading, and it seems Miller and Johnson were more interested in expressing a symbolic fight than the one that takes place in the pages of the book.
