Legendary author, illustrator, and cartoonist Graham Allen Wilson passed away in November at the age of 89 from complications of dementia. Throughout his long career, Wilson worked on numerous publications, including Colliers, Playboy Magazine, and The New Yorker. His work was primarily in the horror-fantasy genre, though he also worked in children's fantasy.

Wilson began working in the 1950s on science fiction films, and as a cartoonist on Mad and Punch. From 1992 until the publication ended, he wrote cartoons and film reviews for The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction. He also worked as a movie reviewer for The Twilight Zone Magazine, and a book critic for Realms of Fantasy Magazine.

IN 1972, he illustrated and wrote a short story for Harlan Ellison's anthology Again, Dangerous Visions, and he contributed cartoons to several publications between the 1960s and 1990s. He created a computer game called Gahan Wilson's Ultimate Haunted House with Byron Press, and he wrote an animated short called Diner in 1992.

Of all his work, Wilson is best known for his illustrations for The New Yorker and Playboy Magazine, which he contributed to for more than 50 years. He's won numerous awards throughout his life, including the World Fantasy Convention Award in 1991, and he was recognized by the National Cartoonist Society with the Milton Caniff Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005.
