Cinema’s loss is comics’ gain. After a failed attempt to bring Ash into the fold with a Freddy Vs Jason sequel, a comic book version was eventually published through Dynamite Entertainment. Picking up directly after the last movie, Freddy Vs Jason Vs Ash has the chosen one travel to Springwood in search of the (again) missing Necronomicon Ex Mortis.

After discovering its power, dream demon Freddy Krueger wants in on this – enlisting Jason Voorhees as his right hand man in chopping up anyone who gets in his way; namely, Ash. Acting as a Best Of compilation for all three characters (although Jason is relatively short-changed again), it’s a fun romp, and a charming look at what could have been. Its sequel goes even further, Freddy Vs Jason Vs Ash: Nightmare Warriors pitting the two respective survivor’s clubs of Freddy and Jason against the pair as Freddy finally achieves ultimate power.

The last outing for Freddy and Jason as we know them (both were rebooted, cinematically, soon after) this leaves Bruce Campbell’s Ash as the last man standing, in more ways than one. Who would have thought it?
