10 Comic Book Deaths That Haven't Been Undone

2. Gwen Stacy

Spider Man Gwen Stacy Death
Marvel Comics

Gwen Stacy €“ Peter Parker€™s first true love €“ died in the comics in 1973. It was a hugely shocking moment for fans and a large part of Peter€™s personal development. When the Green Goblin threw Gwen of a bridge, Peter tried to catch her leg with his web. In doing so, he gave her whiplash and accidentally killed her. This accident haunted him for years.

As this event was so tragic to Peter, it€™s important that the comics don't go back on it. And so far, they never have. The writers have given us Gwen€™s secret children, clones of Gwen, and even an alt-universe Gwen who became Spider-Woman, but never a reincarnated Gwen from the main timeline. If they ever do bring her back for real, the fan backlash would be intense.

A better way to use Gwen going forward is to continue showing the impact that her death still has on Peter€™s life. It€™s referenced quite a lot, and whenever Peter meets an alt-Gwen he tends to be hugely protective of them. Which is understandable. Nods like this from the writers are far preferable than a resurrected Gwen, I'm sure we can all agree.
