And if you're going to give props to Superman, you've got to give them to Marvel's dark Superman riff. The Sentry was a former meth addict with "the power of a million exploding suns" who demonstrated pretty decisively that gods like Thor and Ares were no match for him. He also had a set of mental problems that made the Hulk look like Mister Rogers by comparison. It's true that the Sentry's biggest straight-up battle with the Hulk ended in something close to stalemate, but that was a version of the Hulk whose power was jacked up even higher than normal (hence the title World War Hulk).
