10 Comic Book Plots That Will Never Be Resolved
2. Daredevil/Bullseye: The Target
Kevin Smith wrote one of the definitive Daredevil and Bullseye stories as part of his run on the title, involving the assassin's murder of Matt's former lover Karen Page. Fans were pretty excited then, when Smith announced that he would be doing a sequel to the story in the form of the miniseries Daredevil/Bullseye: The Target.
The first issue of the series came out in 2002 and was heavily influenced by 9/11 with Daredevil spending the first few panels reflecting on how what it's like living in a city that's just come through such a tragedy. The plot then moves on to Bullseye who is hired by a terrorist group to take out an unknown target. And that was the entirety of Daredevil/Bullseye: The Target.
Just like WildCats, only the first issue was ever released. The story behind this one is that, when Kevin Smith did his original Daredevil run, Editor-in-Chief Joe Quesada promised him he could write the first time Daredevil and Bullseye met after Karen's murder. When Smith later reminded him of it, Quesada said he would only keep that promise if Smith immediately started work on the miniseries.
Smith then went on hiatus to direct the film Jersey Girl and never returned to the comic.
Jersey Girl was panned by critics and bombed at the box office so no-one walked out of this mess happy.
