A film adaptation of Matt Kindts creator-owned Dark Horse series is reportedly already in the pre-production stage, with Ridley Scott on board as producer. But with all due respect to the folks at 20th Century Fox who are developing Mind MGMT the movie, this true crime/spy thriller storyline would probably be more successful as a television show. The comic focuses on Meru, a true crime writer who is searching for the truth behind a mysterious airline flight before stumbling upon a secret government agency of super spies and psychics. The series is filled with subterfuge, betrayals and shocking reveals that constantly keep the audience guessing with every issue. And talking dolphins. Working against Mind MGMT as a film is the fact that it has a tendency to come back full circle to its point of origin by the end of its main arcs, making the narrative a bit tedious in a long-form film format. However, the ongoing mystery within a mystery within a mystery approach worked so well for a show like Lost, that Mind MGMT could easily follow the model and treat its individual comic book arcs as 10-12 episode seasons.
