10 Comic Book Series That Deserve TV Shows

8. East Of West

This Jonathan Hickman/Nick Dragotta creator-owned series, which debuted in 2013, mixes elements of dystopian science fiction with a classic American western motif. The end result is an epic story where the main character and €œheroes€ are the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, Death, War, Famine and Conquest, as they set out to exact revenge by killing the President of the United States. Readers who are familiar with Hickman€™s work writing the Fantastic Four and the Avengers, know he€™s notorious for ambitious, often overly complex concepts, that often take months, if not years, to fully develop and pay off. But the payoffs are typically glorious. As such, any adaptation of East of West would require plenty of time to breathe and develop, meaning a cable television show in the style of Deadwood meets The Walking Dead, would be the best way to do the story justice. East of West could also work as a direct-to-Netflix series, which would allow viewers to binge watch and not have to wait week-to-week to see where Hickman€™s off-the-wall ideas are headed.
