Ras Al Ghul's name literally means, "The Demon's Head," so it's going to be hard to make a case for this guy, but here we go. In the current timeline, Ras is around 700 years old and was born to a nomad group in the Arabian desert. The secret to Ras's longevity is his use of the Lazarus Pit.

Early in his life, Ras decides to use his gift of the Lazarus Pit to help rid the world of crime. He amasses enormous amounts of wealth and establishes a group called "The Demon." From that organization arose the League of Assassins. Ras eventually becomes a terrorist determined to rid the world of evil. He studies martial arts, fencing, and becomes adept in science in medicine.

With his righteous cause, immortality, and superhuman ability, Ras seems like a tailor-made hero. Unfortunately, Ras believes that the only way to rid the world of evil was to wipe out all of humanity and start over fresh.

Not precisely heroic means.
