Doom's feud with the Richards family is one of the most surprisingly PG rivalries in comic history, with the villain repeatedly torturing the family, but never actually killing them - although he certainly come close in storylines like Unthinkable, where he takes a child Franklin Richards with him to Hell.

This makes Doom actually successfully killing Ben Grimm in Fantastic Four #508 all the more surprising, as it seems unthinkable that Doom would succeed in a way that left one of the heroic team dead. But, after possessing The Thing and threatening to kill Johnny Storm, the remaining Fantastic Four are left with no choice but to put their own family member down in order to prevent anyone else from getting hurt.

While the Fantastic Four pulled the trigger, it was Doom that forced them to do so. Otherwise they would've been forced to watch as he killed countless people in Ben's body, so the blame for this one lies squarely on the good Doctor's shoulders.
