In one of the most brutal murders of recent history, the Amazing Spider-Man #700 culminated in one of Doc Ock's harshest plots, which involved swapping bodies with Spider-Man himself. While this initially doesn't sound too bad, the Doc's body was on the cusp of death when this plan unfolds, leaving Peter trapped in the old man's fast failing body, unable to do anything as his body shuts down.

Only, Peter refuses to give up - dragging his new frail form halfway across New York to fight Doc Ock, only to instead die in his arms, having given Otto all of his memories of being Spider-Man. While it's exactly as heartbreaking as you'd expect, it also has a surprisingly profound impact on the body snatcher, as Otto goes on to be a far more heroic figure than you'd ever expect in the Superior Spider-Man series.

However, it would be revealed that traces of Parker's psyche still existed within his body, and when Otto was faced with a battle against the Green Goblin that he knew he couldn't win, he allowed the part of Peter that remained to take back his own body, with Doc Ock instead ceasing to exist.

I like my comics like I like my coffee - in huge, unquestionably unhealthy doses.
