Brian Azzarello has been responsible for some of the most underrated DC books of the past twenty years. Alongside his many brilliant creator-owned books, Azzarello has written amazing stories about Joker, Batman and Wonder Woman, but for his most recent book it was time to move away from heroes.

Faithless is a story of Faith, a young woman who doesn’t know what she wants out of life, but knows that nothing she currently has is fulfilling. She likes to dabble in the odd bit of magic, and the occasional bit of sexiness. Okay, maybe more than 'a bit'.

When she meets Poppy, her life is turned upside down. The two have an instant connection and share a magical night with each other. However, not everything is as it seems. As they both deal with some unexpected trauma, it becomes clear that Poppy isn't who she appears to be.

The book sold like hotcakes and not only received a sequel, but BOOM! Studios confirmed there will be a third title coming in 2021. It's a sexy, blood-soaked ride, but not in a way that objectifies its subjects. There's a lot of rudeness, but it always feels real, rather than fantasy.
